It was supposed to be the best summer ever for Wren Culver.
But instead of hanging out with friends, toasting the perfect S’more, and playing in the pool, she’s stuck babysitting her little brother Stan, whose only interest is staying inside and watching conspiracy videos about aliens and Bigfoot.
With her day times ruined, Wren has no choice but to sneak out and meet her friends after dark. A night swim in the abandoned pool at the end of her neighborhood seems like a good idea, until things get weird:
A rhyme scratched into a wall, a strange neighbor obsessed with the pool, and the creeping feeling that she’s no longer swimming alone in the deep end have Wren thinking she’s getting more than she bargained for.
To make matters worse, the only person that believes Wren is Stan. Now they must work together to prove she’s not just telling a fish tale. The summer—and their lives—will depend on it!
Reviews
“A crowd-pleasing favorite among middle grade audiences, particularly for fans of horror and the supernatural—or even older demographics with a soft spot for nostalgic scares.”
“The thought of being trapped in a pool with a shark is terrifying... I still have an irrational fear that something I can’t see might be down there.”
“Pool Shark combines the charm of classic small-town horror and coming-of-age tropes to bring a conceit that is both fun and suspenseful to life.”
“There is something cinematic about POOL SHARK reminiscent of 80s and 90s horror classics and modern horror tropes—think NIGHT SWIM meets JAWS, with a hint of STRANGER THINGS, THE BOOGEYMAN, or PRESENCE.”
“The relationship between Wren and Stan is the absolute heart and soul of this story. I loved the way they came together to protect each other.”
